"I do what I want not what some stupid sign says"
This one's for you, topum. Since I have started to read your LJ I pay more attention to my surroundings. At the end of January I visited Birmingham (for the fifth time already) and this seemed like something you'd photograph.

Haha, thanks, yes, I certainly would. may be with a couple of strangers thrown into the shot (Birmingham, as any other place is nothing without its people, haha ).

Also, I think this kind of thing would not go down very well in Germany?

As you can see, it was really grey, cold and rainy, so not so many people there. But I also prefer my pics without them. Yes, they do liven up a street, but with my luck they are just blurred, moving too fast.

Also, I have been wondering for a while now - is it allowed to post stranger pictures on the web? Could you not get into trouble? Do you ask for permission before or after you take a pic? Surely not?

I don't own a bicycle so I can't say much about the rules there. Sometimes I see signs that forbid bicycles or advertising posters but these are on private property. I don't know about public spaces.

We walked by this bicycle every day and it was still in the same spot. I wonder if it just was left for good. In Dresden, once in a while they remove those that clearly don't belong to anybody and are just old and rusty.

If you are in a public place anyone can take a picture of that place with you in it and post it anywhere they want. Laws vary but mostly if you are not using it for commercial purposes you are free to do it.

That's good to know. I still would feel self-conscious if the person sees me photographing them and looks straigt at me. I don't mind taking pictures of crowds where individual faces are not as visible.

And although you apparently didn't mind, I sure would not want to have my ass in the internet ;)

LOL I was more like: Serves him right to not follow the instructions!
This was there for days. I wonder if the bike has an owner at all.
