Gotham: Kitchen stories 1: Cleaning
So first I got the Buffy library playset and now I also got the Muppets kitchen. My Alfred is very happy and both my life goals are now reached, I have been looking for a reasonable price for years.

What will I do now on ebay I wonder? Nothing left to search for, after I also got the Maujer Street playset (wait, I haven't properly introduced this one yet? I know I took pics with Spiderman. I can't keep up with all the stuff!)

Also, I'll never go to work again, I'll just stay in and play all day long. There will be a proper introduction post for the kitchen yet. I took many great pictures yesterday but somehow they did not arrive at the memory card. I bought a new one today and since the kitchen was quite dusty Alfred set out to clean it! I even used real water and lather there, it was quite a mess ;)

I'll send him after he finished cleaning my kitchen ;)

Wow, this set is amazing. o_O I didn't even know they made Muppet playsets, and I would never have expected them to be so detailed.

Where did you get the mop and mop-bucket? They're fantastic. I assume that the mop didn't come with the kitchen set...
Antje: Seandieastra on July 30th, 2018 04:31 pm (UTC)
Hiya! How are the ponies? Up to any mischief?

These sets were made some time ago, that's why they go for lots of money on ebay. Apparently the company went bust in 2006. I hear they even had a forum where they talked with fans and what they wanted, the details are really amazing! So much play value with all the drawers and doors that open, and all the kitchen accessories.

I also made an introduction post for the kitchen where you can see it: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/300834.html

Check also out their other sets:

Pigs in space: http://www.mwctoys.com/images/review_pis_6.jpg

Lab set with Beaker: https://i2.wp.com/www.panelsonpages.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/muppetlabs.jpg

And I love especially the backstage set, but I don't have use for it as it is very specific Muppets: http://i.imgur.com/nAuiR7B.jpg

The mop bucket is a WWF Wrestling figures accessory. They have great stuff for my 6"/7" figures, as the usual dollhouse stuff is too small.

Here is a post where you can see the original mop it comes with: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/203406.html

But the one I used for Alfred is from a Doctor Who figure.

And another Wrestling accessories post: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/211312.html

I buy them loose on ebay. There are lockers and crates and wheelchairs and crutches and gurneys and oil drums and garbage bins and many other things they can hurt each other with. I'm in Heaven ;)

Last link I am throwing at you today: Here is Alfred doing all kind of household chores, where I also have used the bucket before (my vacuum cleaner even makes sound, so cute): https://dieastra.livejournal.com/259436.html

Eeee, these are all so amazing! I'm going to have to start looking for Wrestling figure accessories. I had never thought about Wrestling figures even having accessories, certainly not such well-made ones! Though your Doctor Who mop is much better than the one that came with the bucket.

The other Muppet sets are awesome as well, but they don't look like they'd be quite as versatile as the kitchen, with all its separate little pieces and cabinets that open. I love all your pictures with Alfred doing chores, too. XD What a great little vacuum!

I haven't bought any miniatures in quite a while now, but I need to get back to it. Actually, on eBay just a few days ago I was admiring some awesome (but very expensive) action figures that come with some cool stuff: Ko Chun and Little Knife from the film God of Gamblers. I'm really impressed with the level of detail that's being put into some of the action figures they're making these days. I guess I need to start checking eBay for miniature lots again...

Yes! You know, I keep thinking now I have bought everything that I could possibly need, and then I find a whole new area and don't know where to look first.

Well, if you look for someone to talk miniatures and action figures with, you know that you always can count on me! It's my favorite topic and I never tire of it. There is just so much awesome stuff, and also so much creativity.

Just the other day I found a girl on Twitter who sets up scenes with little teddy bears. They were watching soccer in the bar, they are sitting in the beergarden, I recognize some of the dollhouse stuff that I have too, and it's all way too cute!

And you also know of course that my LJ is full of (hopefully) funny figure pictures, all linked and sorted by the pinned post.

I love all your pictures with Alfred doing chores, too. XD What a great little vacuum!

Thank you!

My mother gave me the vaccuum, I also have a washing machine and a dishwasher. I made a movie of them once where you can hear the sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbzcQ3Ufsq4

Have you also seen my Buffy library? I linked to it in this entry we are commenting on. Between this and the kitchen, I don't want to go to work anymore, just stay home and play. Both were life goals of me that I have admired for many years and I am so happy I got them for a rather good price.

Ah yes but those are 1:6 scale figures you linked to, that's why they are more expensive. 1:6 scale are the 12" ones, that come with real clothes and you can undress and redress them, like Barbies. The faces are usually well done (like my big Star Trek figures, that Shatner Kirk is the best) and they also pose more naturally.

The Wrestling figures and my Stargate/Star Trek/Gotham/Arrow figures are 6" or 7" which is more like 1:10. They have visible joints and sometimes are less poseable. If I want different clothes for them, I am repainting and also sculpting. The Alfred you see here with rolled up sleeves, I made that. Originally he came in a suit jacket: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/247366.html

Dollhouse stuff usually is 1:12 and therefore often too small for me (no idea how big your ponies are?), but I have lots of great kitchen items. So if you look on ebay for "dollhouse miniatures" it will blow your mind", as it looks all so real.

Here is some of my collection: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/15976.html

and this someone sent to me for free: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/222476.html

This is actually how I started to watch "Gotham" - the figures come with some amazing displays, but I did not want to buy figures I have no idea about. I only wanted to get a look and then became a fan.

Look at this awesome balkony with fire escape! https://dieastra.livejournal.com/243362.html

This Arkham Asylum gate is what made me first fall in love with it: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/254245.html

And Doctor Strange has this wonderful medical chair: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/274550.html

He often does experiments with people so I now have started to buy weirder things, like this Metropolis figure as I liked the chair: https://dieastra.livejournal.com/298973.html

Not sure what you are after - just miniatures to look at, or also display pieces so you can set up scenes - for backgrounds, look at this page: https://extreme-sets.com/

I have their Asylum and also the street with graffiti, it looks really great, I also love the subway station and many others. And it's just cardboard so easily stored away.

Thanks for all the links! Yes, the Buffy library looks fantastic (and your solution of stacking the bookcases works really well for your pics of Alfred, which are awesome). I love the Gotham stuff too. I think the piece I want the most is the Penguin's umbrella, actually.

I hadn't really thought about how much bigger 1:6 figures are than normal action figures, but that makes sense now that you mention it. For pony photos, I usually look for stuff that's around 1:6 scale, which is about the size of all the accessories they originally came with. I do have some 1:12 scale miniatures, but most of them are way too tiny for the ponies to use. I think some of the 1:10 scale stuff would work, though (especially stuff like crates, barrels, etc., since the size isn't too important). And that mop bucket is so great that I don't think I'd mind if it was a little small. For furniture and architectural stuff, I think 1:10 would work pretty well for the ponies, since standing on four feet makes them way too short to use Barbie-sized tables and refrigerators and things. (It's always really hard to find desks and countertops that are wide enough for them to actually use, but not too tall for them to reach.)

Like I say, I'm planning to try to get back into miniatures again, so I'll probably be back to admire more of your posts and check out your awesome playsets and miniatures. :) (My sister and I usually do all our miniature stuff together, but she had a baby a little while back, so we haven't been able to do much since then. The baby will be turning three in a few months, and my sister wants to try to get him into some kind of day-school so we can actually do other stuff together again, besides entertain him all day. :P We've got a couple of in-progress miniature sets in our craft room that haven't been touched in months. Hopefully we can get back to them soon!)
Antjedieastra on August 1st, 2018 04:52 am (UTC)
Yes, I have to thank my friend for the stacked bookcase idea. Sometimes you need a second opinion.

I plan to get a second Penguin one day so I can customize him, I'll happily send you the umbrella then as I don't need two of them.

You can get 1:6 accessories loose on ebay without having to buy the expensive figures if you are not interested in them. Many kitbash the boxes and sell it all in single. Although I figured the searching term there is rather 1/6.

It's always really hard to find desks and countertops that are wide enough for them to actually use, but not too tall for them to reach.

Yeah, I can imagine that being a problem. I'm surprised there is no special marketed stuff for them?

Your plans all sound awesome! I would like to follow you if you don't mind, to see it unfold (if you also don't mind me not commenting on other posts)
Grayswandir: My Little Pony: autumn_grayswandir_ on August 1st, 2018 05:24 am (UTC)
Of course, you're welcome to follow me! :) I'll be sure to post here whenever we do another miniature set.

I'm surprised there is no special marketed stuff for them?

Well, the thing is, my sister and I only collect the "vintage" ponies from the 80's, like we had when we were kids. (Hasbro rebooted the franchise about 20 years ago, but the new ponies are very different and I pretty strongly dislike them). The ponies in the 80's actually did have a few nice playsets and often came with cute accessories, and we do use those whenever we can, but the options are pretty limited.

From what I've seen, the newer ponies rarely come with anything, and when they do, the accessories are very cheap-looking (unpainted shiny-plastic stuff with almost no detail). And the newer ponies are also waaaay smaller than the vintage ones, so their playsets are really small, too.

I'll definitely start searching eBay for 1:6 scale stuff again, though, and start searching for action-figure pieces, too. :) (The next thing I need to find is a good miniature wood-chopping axe. I've been looking for one for ages, but all the ones I've found so far are in 1:12 scale, which looks super tiny with the ponies...)
Antjedieastra on August 1st, 2018 05:38 pm (UTC)
Where else are you posting? I'm also on Tumblr and Twitter - and Instagram, although I only now figured out how to post there from a computer.

1:6 wood chopping axe? Like this one? LOL

This one is from a set called "Zombie Survival Pack". There are two packs with three items each. There is also a banjo and a frying pan and a baseball bat and a sword and a pickaxe:

I actually had to digitally remove the blood from the axe in the picture ;) The sets are difficult to come by, I guess I was lucky. Sorry I did not photograph the box, but it were two simple cardboard boxes with the items pictured on them. Should look like this, by Triad Toys: https://www.1999.co.jp/itbig13/10135602p.jpg
Grayswandir: My Little Pony: spring_grayswandir_ on August 1st, 2018 06:39 pm (UTC)
Hah, yes, just like that! Except without the blood, of course. ;) I'll have to keep an eye out for zombie survival items!

I have a Tumblr (here), but I almost never visit Tumblr except when I'm making a pony photo post, so I rarely see anyone else's posts there. I'll keep following you here, since LJ is really the only social-media-type website that I look at on a (somewhat) regular basis. You're welcome to check out my Tumblr if you want to see some of our photos, though. :) I need to start updating it again. We have a ton of photos that still haven't been posted anywhere yet...
Antjedieastra on August 5th, 2018 06:24 am (UTC)
It would be great to have a new LJ friend to share the miniature love with. When I look back at my old entries many of the ones that commented and also did pictures on their own disappeared and never were seen again :( And the less people post here the less you are inclined to visit but I don't want to give up on this place as it was my first. I swore for a long time I would not go to Tumblr but they have changed some features now and it's better.

Before, you could not contact someone in private unless you followed them for 24 hours (sometimes I just wanted to give a comment but not follow) and now there is even a comment box. Don't ask me how, but somehow I managed to switch it on. So under my posts there is this speech bubble and people can write actual comments, not just like and reblog. But you have to switch it on, it does not come to all accounts automatically. I'd love to be able to comment on your stuff so it would be great if you could find it.

I see you also have a lot great stuff! That medieval setting is so great! And I see now what you mean about normal dollhouse props being too small.

Well, I want to recommend keyrings to you! Often they come with things attached that work wonderfully, and are of a bigger size. I saw keyrings with several tools like a hammer, maybe there is one with an axe as well?

And have I already pointed you to Japanese erasers for food? I have hot dogs and hamburgers and also ice-cream cones and cakes and all kind of stuff that looks really delicious. See? https://japan-magazine.jnto.go.jp/jnto2wm/wp-content/uploads/1506_eraser_main.jpg
Grayswandir: My Little Pony: winter_grayswandir_ on August 5th, 2018 08:20 am (UTC)
So under my posts there is this speech bubble and people can write actual comments

I need to try to figure out how to do this! Tumblr is so strange. I can't understand why they would make it so difficult to leave comments. (They had also marked our blog as having "mature content" for some reason... I have no idea what their reasoning was, since all we've ever posted there are pictures of plastic pony toys. :/ )

I want to recommend keyrings to you

Oh, hey, that's a good idea. We've gotten some really cute little fuzzy toy bears and rabbits and things on keychains in the past, but I hadn't thought about looking for tools. I'll keep that in mind.

And yes, we've got those erasers too! :) We were so excited when we first found them. We've already taken some pictures with the burgers and ice cream cones, though I don't remember whether we've posted them anywhere yet.
Antjedieastra on August 8th, 2018 05:26 am (UTC)
Can you not write to them somehow and ask for the mature to be removed? This seems like a mistake indeed.

I found this in the FAQ that tells you how to switch on comments in the app and also on the computer: https://tumblr.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/231855648-Replies

I don't know why not more people do it, I think it was not marketed well. This was one of the biggest gripes when Tumblr was new. At first you had to sign up with another website like Disqus to insert it but I never did that.

I scrolled through all the pictures on your Tumblr but I don't remember seeing eraser food. I surely would have noticed as I love them!
