It's been 68 years...

... and still they find bombs from World War II in Dresden. Not only in my home-city of course, there are often reports from cities all over Germany, but the day before yesterday it hit a bit more close to home. The bomb is a leftover from be bombing on February 13th in 1945 and was discovered at a building area around 2 PM, and then 1,500 people had to be evacuated from the area. If it had exploded, lots of buildings would have been destroyed. It was right in the inner city.

A birthday party and a banquet in a hotel got interupted as well, and the company that is producing the flu vaccine had to stop production.

A few minutes before midnight the bomb had been defused successfully, and things went back to normal. Until they discover the next one...

PS: I had no idea but is it true (as I read recently) that "Dresden 1945" has become a world-wide used term to describe any destruction? Like, when Sandy hit New York, or when Katrina hit New Orleans, that news reporters describe it looking like "Dresden 1945"? I'm not quite sure what to think about that.
